We always ask, 'What is Modern, what is Modernism, and what is being Modern that is relevant to us?' Here is one answer by Kheng Soon.

Aesthetics is the topic artists and architects have to dwell on deeply. Perhaps, here in his book, we can have some answers, he elaborated on the way he sees it.

Other than Archhitecture, he is a scout leader, and an avid one.

He was happy to have received his accolade from the professional society, the Gold Medal.

His Fine Art Centre design as an architectural student was exhibited and shown to Dr. Toh Chin Chye.

The Question of Identity is an issue that he confronted. His is one that weighed heavily on the geography and culture in which he grew up.

Some history of SPUR, a Planning organization, in which Kheng Soon was actively involved, that had made an impact was defunct after some time. A good recap of history perhaps.

Mega architecture, those were the days of brutalism and the search for a new architectural form for the newly independent and industrialized. Who was not influenced by Le Corbusier and the Bauhaus? I see some glimpse of their influences. The power of rawness and gutsiness.

There are many more exciting stories to unravel and learned.
